On Thursday, our youngest daughter will graduate from Greenwich High School. I share in the joy of so many parents and loved ones when I say how proud I am of her and all graduates who now venture out into our ever-changing and incredibly beautiful world. I am proud of the challenges they have overcome to reach this milestone, and to have been a part of their journey.
My fondest wish for these young people is that they retain the curiosity and perseverance they have already demonstrated as they shift into this new and exciting part of life. I also hope our graduates realize the power they have to effect positive change through their choices and actions. And that they will use their knowledge and the wisdom gained from their experiences and the experiences of those whose shoulders they stand on as a force for good.
As all the 2023 graduates move into the next phase of their journey, I hope they will embrace the possibilities that await them, embrace the diversity of our global community, and celebrate the unique perspectives every one of us brings. I also hope they will cherish the power of collaboration and understanding, for it is through unity that we can conquer the greatest challenges.
As Victor Hugo wrote, “There is nothing like a dream to create the future.” May this generation go into the world with the vision and imagination to address the needs of the future, and the tenacity, determination, and fearlessness to see their dreams through.
