Beside Jacadi Paris and Optical Options on Greenwich Avenue sits an haute-fantaisie specialty jewelry house—GAS Bijoux. If you pass by the outside of the store, the vibrantly colored and intricate hand-crafted jewelry that lines the windows will surely make you stop and stare in awe. Although it appears quaint on the outside, once you step into GAS Bijoux, the sea of ornate necklaces, earrings and bracelets coupled with the room’s warm yellow themed walls will give the store an elegant yet cozy feel.

Founded by André Gas in 1969, the original store is headquartered in St. Tropez, France. In 2003, Gas’s nephew and niece-in-law, Pascal and Marnie Legrand, opened a second branch of GAS Bijoux in New York. The store’s introduction to New York was when Erica Juneja, the President of GAS Bijoux in Greenwich, first heard of it.

“They opened on Madison Avenue in New York, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, I would go to the Madison Avenue store,” Juneja says about her early encounters with the store.

Although Juneja and her family moved from the city to New Canaan in 2017, Juneja’s past connection with New York eventually led to her desire to open the store.

“During the pandemic, many families were leaving the city, and it made me realize that there was a void on Greenwich Avenue, so that’s why I reached out to GAS Bijoux around two years ago.” Hence, Gas Bijoux on Greenwich Avenue was founded in December 2022.

GAS Bijoux sells custom jewelry produced in Marseille that has a base of silver metal and is triple-dipped in 24 Karat gold in order to make the gold color a prominent feature of the jewelry pieces, especially the finer ones.

The inspiration for GAS Bijoux jewelry revolves around the lifestyle and beaches of Saint-Tropez, so each piece encapsulates a Bohemian and relaxed theme. In addition, each piece is completely handmade, and each piece has its own individual twist.

“With eighty artisans on the team, there are certain pieces that stay our staples, but every month we get a new delivery and there’s always something new to discover,” Juneja explains.

Earrings and bracelets are most sought-after in the store, with the Andy earrings being one of the most popular hooped earrings. GAS Bijoux sells both silver and gold Andy earrings. In the realm of bracelets, the Zanzibar and Zizanie bracelets come in an assortment of colors that give the bracelets a beachy flair. (price range: $70-150).

“One of the mantras of the brand is layering, so there are lots of skinny bracelets that you can layer with each other,” Juneja says.

The Tangerine necklace is in fashion for the spring, with its colorful jeweled exterior making it versatile. The Love necklace is also a great choice, and has a detailed gold heart in the center. The chic Rafia Bags are perfect for a dinner on the Ave or a day out.

From Thursday, June 8 to Saturday, June 10, GAS Bijoux will be hosting the Greenwich Trunk Show along with Frankie’s On The Park. There will also be an opening party on Wednesday, June 7 as well on 18 Greenwich Ave.

The GAS Bijoux offers a range of stylish jewelry and trendy statement pieces that can be utilized by children, adolescents and adults, so stop by this spring and get immersed in the world of jewelry.
