When Peter Gogolak emigrated from Hungary to the United States at the age of fourteen, he brought with him soccer skills that seemed to have no place in his high school athletic program. But while observing how Americans kicked field goals and extra points by kicking with the toe, he realized that kicking with the instep like a soccer player could greatly improve both accuracy and distance. He became one of the greatest kickers in the NFL with the New York Giants, and revolutionized the way that field goals are kicked.
