Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Company holds fundraiser event

Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Company, a newly formed Greenwich non-profit, is holding its first fundraiser, ‘Babysitting Disco Party’ on Sunday, December 18, from 1 to 4pm, at The Greenwich Arts Council, 299 Greenwich Avenue – third floor. Founded by Greenwich High School students, Katherine Reynolds and Angelica Cilio, Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Company teaches dance to Special Needs children.

The Flower Petals Adaptive Dance team will offer babysitting for children ages 5 to 13, with a $20 per hour requested donation.

Parents can drop off their children in front of the Greenwich Arts Council and they will be escorted to the Dance Studio for a supervised dance party and enjoy nut-free snacks. For those who like a quiet space, the team will also have board games, coloring and story time.

About Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Company:

Both Angelica and Katherine have  brothers on the Autism Spectrum. They’ve seen how difficult it is to find recreational programs for children with special needs. They decided to share their love of dance with the special needs community and  became certified to teach adaptive ballet by taking a training course at The Boston Ballet in the summer of 2021. Together they lead both the dancers and the volunteers in class.

Our mission here at Flower Petals Adaptive Dance Company is to provide a safe space for all actions, reactions, and feelings. We offer support to build and share in a community of dancers, parents, and volunteers. We welcome and cherish those who come to celebrate the freedom of expression and the beauty of creative movement. We appreciate the effort it takes to make this happen each week and are truly grateful for this wonderful experience.
