Anthony “Dinny” Thomas Acerbo, 86, beloved husband for 64 years of Carolyn Cicchiello Acerbo, passed away peacefully with family at his side on December 1, after a battle with heart disease.
Dinny, as he was called by all that knew him, was born on June 18, 1936, to Zopito and Ginevra Acerbo in Port Chester, NY. He attended Port Chester schools and graduated from Port Chester High School. He then served in the US Army from 1955 to 1957 and was stationed in Fort Dix, NJ and Juneau, Alaska and was honorably discharged.
He married his high school sweetheart on September 14, 1958. They moved to Greenwich in 1974 where they raised their four children. Dinny was a hardworking man, often holding several jobs, including bread distribution, landscaping, and excavating.
He enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, dining out, studying history, and later in life listening to books. His idol and favorite historical figure was General Douglas MacArthur.
In addition to his beloved Carol, he is survived by his four children, Stephen, Robert, Michael (Beth), and Jennifer (Gregg). He was an adored grandfather to Sarah, Ava, Emma, and Michael. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Anna, Rocco, Mary, and Sam.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 4 at Castiglione Funeral Home, Greenwich. A Funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 5 at Sacred Heart Church, Greenwich. Entombment followed at St. Mary Cemetery, Greenwich. To leave an online condolence, please visit www.Castiglionefh.com
