Sherrill Burger Kellam, 63, passed away on November 6, 2022, surrounded by family and close friends, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Sherrill was the daughter of Norman and Fay Burger. Born on January 29, 1959 in Greenwich, CT, she graduated from Greenwich Country Day School (’74) and Greenwich Academy (’77). She earned a B.A. in Economics from Boston College (’81), where she met the love of her life and husband of 35 years, Brett C. Kellam. They lived in New York City initially – where she worked in fixed income sales – before moving to Greenwich to raise a family and continue to build their life together.
She is survived by Brett; her two daughters, Ashley Cordo and Emily Kellam; son-in-law, John Cordo; grandson, Kai Cordo; future son-in-law, Vaibhav Narayanam; as well as her parents; and brother, Neil Burger.
The center of Sherrill’s life was her family. She adored her husband, daughters and Tibetan Terrier dogs. She loved being a “Tutu” to her grandson. She was devoted and loyal; and collected many lifelong friends from her childhood, college and Round Hill Club. She enjoyed many activities, including art tours, traveling (especially to Hawaii), reading and playing bridge.
No one loved a party more than Sherrill. Every celebration, whether Christmas, a birthday or a Boston College tailgate, was cause for elaborate planning, excessive decoration, too much food and enormous amounts of fun. She was vivacious and passionate; sentimental and thoughtful; feisty and playful; fun-loving, and ultimately, just loving.
Sherrill left us way too soon and will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
There will be a memorial service at Christ Church Greenwich, where she and Brett were married, on December 9 at 2:30 PM. In true Sherrill fashion, the service will be followed by a Christmas-themed celebration of life at Round Hill Club. Festive attire is encouraged.
