Audubon hosts Ecological Gardening & Landscaping program

The Greenwich Audubon Center has initiated a new educational program where attendees can learn how to create and maintain ecological landscapes which can contain ecologically managed flower, herb or vegetable gardens.

The advantage of this concept is the creation of a beautiful landscape that is alive with the creatures that brighten our lives, including songbirds, butterflies, dragonflies and lightning bugs. The elimination of harmful chemicals creates a safe space where children can experience the wonders of nature every day.

We can all play a part in reversing the ecological degradation of years past by turning our properties into sanctuaries for beneficial creatures.

In this first introductory program to be held Sunday, November 20, 1 to 3pm, attendees will explore the true meaning of the ecological approach, its advantages and limitations, as well as your choices in managing your landscape. We will introduce the concepts of ecological gardening and landscaping by focussing on lawn management, including what should be done now to begin managing landscapes ecologically.
