Theresa Gill Zavattaro, a lifelong resident of Greenwich, passed away November 10, 2022, just one day following her 89th birthday.
Theresa was the daughter of Quintino and Eleonora Infante. She was a graduate of Greenwich High School and was awarded the title of “Miss Stamford” in 1953. Beginning at the age of 16, Theresa worked for the Greenwich Board of Education, starting off as a file clerk. She worked her way up to become the Head of Transportation and was the first woman to hold that position. Theresa was loved by all. She was an active parishioner and Eucharistic Minister at St. Catherine of Siena in Riverside. Everyone who met her felt her kind and compassionate spirit. Theresa is predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Wesley Gill. Later, she would marry her second husband, Frank Zavattaro, with whom she enjoyed these last 10 years.
Theresa is the cherished mother of Christine Duckett (Bill) and Laurie Cummins (Gordon) and stepmother of Suzanne Warner (Brian) and Marcus Zavattaro (Maria). She is the loving grandmother of 6; a great-grandmother of 2; and dear sister of Rita Suthard and Julia Infante.
A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, 4-8pm at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Avenue, Greenwich, 203-869-5968. Memorial Mass on Thursday, 11am at St. Catherine of Siena. Memorial donations can be sent to Friends of Greenwich Point.
