FAP hosts Legislative Forum for parents of special needs children

To mark the 25th anniversary of Friends of Autistic People (FAP), Founder and President, Brita Darany von Regensburg, in partnership with Nina Nagy’s ‘Parents of Children Over 21 with Autism’ group, will host a Legislative Forum on Friday, October 14 at 3pm. The event will take place at the Quaker Meeting House, 317 New Canaan Rd, Wilton. Parents/guardians of adults special needs children are encouraged to attend.

Some of the elected officials in attendance are: Congressman Jim Himes, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes, State Representative Lucy Dathan, State Representative Steven Meskers, State Representative Stephanie Thomas, State Representative Kimberly Fiorello, State Representative Ryan Fazio, State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo.

This meeting will serve to inform elected officials about the realities of the families and their adult children with profound Autism and/or Developmental Disabilities. Some live still at home with aging parents, others live in group homes waiting to receive better autism specific supports – beyond food and psychotropic medications.
