Greenwich Symphony Orchestra opens new season

The Greenwich Symphony Orchestra opens the 2022-2023 season with two concerts: September 10, 7:30pm and September 11, 3:00pm, in the Performing Arts Center at Greenwich High School.

Who doesn’t love the way Leonard Bernstein brought classical music to Broadway and the movies. Three Dance Episodes from his “On the Town” is the opening number, a great reminder that classical music is found and enjoyed everywhere. Prokofiev, whose Peter and the Wolf is everyone’s introduction to the orchestra, is the third composer on the program and William Grant Still, known as the Dean of African-American composers is the third. For a stirring finale, Stuart Malina, the new Music Director, will conduct the 78 member orchestra from the piano bench while he plays Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue.

Tickets are: $40 for adults, $10 for students.
