As The Cedar continues to grow and evolve, the school is adapting its educational team to best serve students and their needs. At this time, they announce the addition of a full time school counselor and some new members to their team.
Jodi Allen will be joining Cedar School as school counselor. Jodi will be tasked with emotionally supporting students and helping to nurture them as teens. Prior to joining Cedar, Jodi was the counselor for six years at the Oakwood Friends School in Poughkeepsie, NY, a boarding school for grades 6-12. She is also an avid sports enthusiast and coach and will help develop the Cedar sports program. Jodi has a Master’s in Mental Health Counseling from Marist College and a BS in Psychology from St. John Fisher College.
Daniela Rosenblatt, the Cedar’s English teacher this year, will also take on the role of Curriculum Coordinator. In this capacity, Daniela will supervise and train the school’s teaching team while building a rigorous, yet tailored curriculum for students. For over 20 years, Daniela has taught 6th-12th grade English at both private and public schools addressing the needs of a wide range of learners including students with language-based learning differences. She earned a Masters from NYU in English Education and post-graduate work in Special Education. As the proud mom of two Windward alumni, Daniela is well versed in all aspects of working with and supporting children with language-based differences.
Amy Nathan is joining Cedar School as a new History teacher. Before joining Cedar, Amy taught for 10 years at The Gateway School in Manhattan and previously trained at The Landmark School in Massachusetts, both of which are schools specifically designed for children with language-based learning differences.
