Gloria Panker

Gloria Ann Panker, 95, of Greenwich, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, in Naples, Fla. with her family at her side. Gloria was born May 5th, 1927, in Port Chester, New York to Hazel Senft Accurso and Philip Accurso. Gloria was raised and instilled with love by her Aunt Concetta Accurso and Cousin Jennie Accurso.

Gloria lived in Greenwich, CT most of her life where she raised her family and worked as cashier at The Connecticut Natural Gas Company in Greenwich, CT. For 30 years she greeted many people every day with a smile and warm welcome. Gloria was a devoted Catholic and loved animals. Gloria enjoyed singing and had a beautiful voice that would silence and calm any room.

Gloria and her husband enjoyed many trips, with emphasis on the the Hudson Valley, Pocono Mountains, and drives to Florida visiting friends and family along the way.

Gloria is survived by her loving daughter Lorraine La Motte and husband Frank in Montana, her grandchildren Frederick Surman, Laurence Surman, Joseph Chiappetta, Amanda Mayone and Jeffrey Mayone, her great grandchildren twins John and Lisa Surman, and twins Sophia and Emily Mayone, her loving brother Robert Accurso and her dear family friend Frank Quatrone. She shared her love, great sense of humor, and pride with her family. Her ever-present motto was “If you’re happy, I’m happy”, a testament to her beautiful and kind heart, which will live on in those who love and remember her.

Family that left this world before her include her husband, Laurence Panker, daughter Toni Lynn Surman, as well as siblings Phillip Accurso, Genevieve Imbrogno, Helene Sabia and Joseph Accurso.

Donations may be made to her favorite charities to honor her memory, Guiding Eyes for the Blind, Yorktown Heights, NY and St Jude Children’s Hospital.
