
Sheila Rogan Raymond, dearly loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, was born on October 13, 1932, to Sarah Marie Cashman and George Robert Rogan in the glorious Bronx, NY. She died on July 22.
Sheila graduated from elementary school at Mt. St. Ursula Academy, Bronx, NY, and from high school at the Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood, NY. She attended Marymount College in Manhattan and graduated from Katherine Gibbs School.
Sheila was employed as a private secretary and later as bookkeeper for many different firms most of her married life. For 23 years she worked for Edgewood Travel, Inc. of Greenwich, CT, where she learned of her love for travel. She visited over 24 countries, 36 states, and 12 Caribbean islands.
Sheila married George W. Raymond on October 23, 1954, in St. Philip Neri Church in Bronx, NY, and together they raised their 4 sons in their hometown of Riverside, CT. As an active parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church for nearly 60 years, she taught religious education, served on the Parish Advisory Council, was a Eucharistic Minister, and worked at the Church Carnival.
Sheila loved and cherished her family. Nothing brought her more joy than visiting and spending time with them. Tuesday evening was a very special time to get together for dinner and laughs.
Many thanks to her wonderful sons for their loving care, and to her outstanding caregivers, Marie, Alberta and Mireille.
She will be greatly missed by her sons: Paul M Raymond and his wife Patricia of Garden City, NY, J. Gregory Raymond of Stamford, CT, Thomas G. Raymond of Old Greenwich, CT, and James W. Raymond and his wife Heather of Darien, CT; her 10 grandchildren: Stephen, (Emilia), Patrick, Margaret, Samuel, Jennifer, Colin, Conor, Sarah, George, Kelly; and great-grandsons, Julian and Simon.
Sheila was predeceased by her husband, George; their daughter, Amy Elizabeth; and her sisters, Anne R. McGrath of Hampton Bays, NY, and Janet R. Pedlow of Chappaqua, NY.
In addition, she is survived by her siblings, Elizabeth R. Brennan of Cutchogue, NY, John H. Rogan (Janice) of Scarborough, ME, and Peter G. Rogan (Judy) of Munster, IN; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30pm on Friday, July 29 at St. Catherine of Siena Church. Friends may call at Leo P. Gallagher Funeral Home, 31 Arch St., Greenwich, CT, on Thursday, July 28th from 5:30-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Counsel Malta House of CT, Kids in Crisis, or your favorite charity in Sheila’s name.
