
Francesca Franco, aka, Frances, Ciccilia and Nana, 99 of Cos Cob, Monroe and Fairfield, peacefully passed away on July 21, 2022, with her family by her side. She was born in Pellaro, Italy on November 7, 1922, to the late Anna and Paolo Scoglio. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Lina; sister, Teresa Foti; and brother, Giovanni Scoglio.
As a young girl, she apprenticed as a seamstress in Italy. In 1945, after WWII, she came to the USA as a soldier’s wife. For 30 years she was employed as a seamstress for Ronnie’s and loved to sew for family and friends. For over ten years she was a Red Cross volunteer, crocheting lap blankets for Veterans. Frances was passionate about cooking, baking cookies, praying the Rosary, and especially, crocheting scarves and blankets for everyone until her final days.
She is survived by her sons, John (Helen) and Paul (Martha); six grandchildren and spouses, Lisa Franco, Mandy Franco, Arley (Greg) Santilli, Jaclyn Birn, Stefanie (Dean) Aivalis and Frank Franco. Her longevity blessed her with the pride and joy of six great-grandchildren, Anna Santilli, Braeden and Lina Birn and Marina, Vittoria and Niko Aivalis. She also will be missed deeply by her sisters-in-law, Celestina Fiume, Parma Franco; and many devoted nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 26, at 11:00 AM at St. Catherine of Siena in Riverside. She was the sun in our galaxy. For those attending, in honor of her and her warmth, wear something with her favorite color pink. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are made to the Ludlowe Center for Health and Rehabilitation in Fairfield, CT, where we are so grateful that she was cared for with tender love the last few years of her life.
