Obituary: Charles Rogers, III

Charles Rogers, III

Charles William Rogers III, longtime resident of Greenwich, passed away on Monday, June 6. He was 73 years old.

Born in Linfield, Mass., Charlie frequently enjoyed visiting Fenway to see his Boston Red Sox win a game. He went to Suffolk University and the PMD program at Harvard Business School prior to spending most of his career at PepsiCo. Though he retired over 15 years ago, to this day his wisdom and insight guides those he mentored. Charlie accomplished many things in his professional life, but he always said his greatest achievement was his family.

Following retirement, Charlie spent his time completely dedicated to his family using his human resource skills to coach his daughters through their educational and professional careers.

Throughout his life Charlie was an incredible athlete. He enjoyed skiing, hiking, bicycling, tennis and most recently golf. Whether it was skiing, basketball, softball, or becoming a soccer coach, having never played the sport himself, Charlie was always ready to go the extra mile to share his love of sports with his children and his wife.

Charlie loved traveling. Once he retired, he shared that love with his family. He spent entire years planning family cultural immersion trips abroad and gathering lifelong family friends along the way.

Charlie was an incredible writer, and he enjoyed both gardening and woodworking. One of his woodworking achievements was a customized dollhouse for his granddaughter. He shared his love of gardening by bringing his children and grandchildren to the nursery every spring, to pick out their favorite flowers for the family garden. Throughout his life, he spent countless nights editing school essays, helping with projects, and even providing feedback on some of his wife’s projects. He always went above and beyond for those whom he loved.

During the COVID-19 Pandemic, when his first grandchild was born, he immediately took on the task of becoming her full-time babysitter. Charlie was always dedicated to helping his family in whatever way he could and sharing his wisdom with others. He was one of the most brilliant, kind, and considerate people who treated others as family.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his family, who will cherish the incredible adventures and times he shared with them. He has shaped so many people and so many lives. His family can only help to continue to pass along his wisdom and follow his belief that you should always value your family.

He is survived by his sister, Ann, his wife, Evelyn, two daughters, Jessica and Nicole, his son-in-law, Grey, and his grandchildren. A celebration of life will be hosted in the Fall of 2022.
