The Waterfall Project Community Cleanup Day Set for June 18

Greenwich Green & Clean (GG&C) along with its community partners will be sponsoring a Community Cleanup Day on Saturday, June 18, 10 am – 1 pm at the Eastern corner of Greenwich High School (GHS) facing East Putnam Avenue to kick off the very first phase of The Waterfall Project.

The project is the town-wide commitment to reimagine the waterfall and the surrounding natural area. The goal is to preserve, protect and beautify the environmentally sensitive site on the GHS campus. It is also a public/private partnership working in cooperation with the Board of Education, the Greenwich Sustainability Committee and the residence and businesses of Greenwich.

Please register at www.greenwichgreenandclean.org or join at the signup table on June 18 at the waterfall area. All ages are welcome. Volunteers are encouraged to bring heavy duty gloves for removal of invasives. However, they will be available on site. Long pants and socks will help avoid Poison Ivy.

Partners for this community cleanup include:

· Green Fingers Garden Club
· Greenwich Athletic Foundation
· Greenwich Board of Education
· Greenwich Conservation Coalition
· Greenwich Environmental Advocacy Group
· Greenwich Pollinator Pathway
· Greenwich Selectmen
· Greenwich Sustainability Committee
· Greenwich Tree Conservancy
· Sam Bridge Nursery & Greenhouses

Community Service certificates will be available.
