Joan Cummings Comeau died on Monday, May 23 in Jupiter, Fla. Joan was born July 4, 1935, in Rye, NY to Samuel and Frances Cummings. She was a graduate of Simmons College. Joan moved to Greenwich soon after marrying her husband of 63 years, Robert A. Comeau (Bob), where they settled and raised their three children for over thirty years. While in Greenwich, Joan was an active member of the Greenwich Garden Club, the Greenwich Country Club and the Greenwich Country Day School, where Bob and all three of her children attended.
Joan had a great love of travel and she and Bob traveled the world together. They loved to explore and live in new places, eventually finding themselves at home in Bermuda for over twenty years before finally settling in Lenox, Massachusetts. While in Lenox, Joan was an active member of the Lenox Garden Club for over fifteen years, earning many awards during her tenure. She was additionally an avid croquet player and she and Bob loved to travel to Florida to visit their children and play croquet at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, Florida. Joan and Bob were also devoted dog lovers who always had their furry companions by their sides.
Joan now joins in heaven, her beloved husband, Bob, who passed away on March 6, 2019 in Lenox, Massachusetts. She is survived by her children, Jeanne C. Coudert of Jupiter, Florida, Robert C. Comeau (Sheryll) of Wellington, Florida, and Linda C. Taben (Peter) of Ridgefield, CT; grandchildren Alexis (Lexi) Coudert and Charlie Coudert; Claire and Michael Taben; and Bobby and Eddie Comeau.
