Christ Church Greenwich Creation Care Series presents “What Might We Owe?” with Bill McKibben, Internationally Renowned Environmentalist, Activist, and Author, Sunday, May 29, 11:15 am. The program takes place in the Parish Hall.
Bill McKibben is renowned among people most interested in being proactive about climate change. Awarded the Gandhi Peace Award, he is an environmentalist, author, and journalist who has written extensively on the impact of global warming.
In his talk, he will discuss the extraordinary wealth of American suburbia which is reflected in, among other things, clouds of carbon now warming the world. It’s a moment to think about how we can build the world we really want for those coming next.
As the founder of 350.org, he led the organization in 5,200 simultaneous demonstrations in 181 countries. The following year he conceived the 10/10/10 Global Work Party, which convened more than 7,000 events in 188 countries.
Bill McKibben now serves as the Schumann Distinguished Scholar in Environmental Studies at Middlebury College, as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has authored a dozen books about the environment, including his first, The End of Nature (1989), and his newest, The Flag, the Cross, and the Station Wagon
