Jeff Lum

Jeffrey Lum, aged 68, passed away on May 1 in Greenwich, CT. Jeff was born on Nov. 21, 1953 in New York, NY to Mamie and Share Lum.

Jeff graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science and a minor in Industrial Engineering and Math from Pratt Institute in 1976. Jeff’s first job after graduating was with General Electric in New York, where he completed Financial Management Training Program and worked as a Systems Analyst at the International Sales Division. After GE, Jeff enjoyed a long career at Citibank’s New York headquarters where he worked for 27 years, initially as Inspection Manager at the Audit Division, later as Financial Institutions Regional Head for Asia Pacific, Global Trade Finance Project Manager, and CitiDirect Global Product Manager, before retiring as a Vice President in 2007. His work had great impact in automation, product development, client retention, and cost savings. Jeff traveled extensively to Europe, Latin America, and Asia, including Taiwan, where Jeff would meet his wife, Lillian, the love of his life.

In retirement, Jeff founded Art Touch Collection with Lillian where they worked as partners and acted as international advisors for private art collectors and advised museums and organizers to set up art exhibitions, including the Keith Haring exhibitions in Taipei, and Seoul, and more in the pipeline before he fell ill. In recent years, Jeff had been volunteering driving for Call-A-Ride, a service in Greenwich that offers door to door transportation for ambulatory senior citizens. Jeff was also very proud and supportive of Lillian’s volunteer work at the Flinn Gallery at Greenwich Library during 2013-2020. Jeff enjoyed supporting his community in any way he could and, at the time of his passing, was in training to become a bus driver with First Student, a company that provides transportation to students at public schools in Stamford, CT.

Jeff had many talents and hobbies but loved any variety of fishing and was a very skilled chef. He was most happy spending time with his family and caring for the many pets they’ve had over the years. Jeff enjoyed traveling and vacationing with his family and they have many wonderful memories of ski and fishing trips and family vacations all over the world. He was always ready to give helpful advice or have a heartfelt conversation with friends and family. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his granddaughter, Mei-jy whom he was so proud of.

Jeff suffered a stroke on March 25, 2022. He had fought heroically for recovery, but his heart decided to rest at the end, leaving behind a legacy that touched all who were fortunate to know him.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; son, Christopher and his wife, Sarah; granddaughter, Mei-jy; mother, Mamie; younger brothers, Kenneth and his wife Loreen, Bruce and his wife Su, and David and his wife Shari; nieces, Alison, Jennifer, Kerry, and Alicia; nephews, Matthew, Nicholas, Andrew, and Justin (husband of Alison); and great niece, Emma (daughter of Alison and Justin).
