Obituary: Irwin Kallman

Irwin Kallman, of Greenwich, born February 3, 1928 in New York City, passed away in Greenwich on May 3, at the age of 94. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judith, of 41 years; daughter, Patti and Rob Gaulin of Greenwich CT; son, Jonathan and Bryanna Kallman of Old Greenwich; stepdaughter, Deborah and Mark Goldenberg of Beverly Hills CA; stepson, Jonathan Alter of New York City; stepson, Robert and Shari Alter of Englewood NJ; 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He loved being surrounded by family.

Irwin was a U.S. Army Reservist, graduated from City College of New York, obtained a Master’s Degree in Business from the University of Michigan; then married Suzanne Haas in 1951, mother of Patti and Jon, while earning a Law Degree from New York Law School.

Irwin initially practiced as a real estate tax attorney but transitioned to become a real estate entrepreneur, investing very successfully over the next 70 years. In 1986 Irwin co-founded Win Properties Inc, with his son, to invest and manage his national portfolio of real estate investments.

Irwin, with his wife, Judith, were active philanthropists supporting many Jewish charities, museums and medical research institutions.

Irwin was gifted with a photographic memory, an impressive intellect and a passion for business and deal-making. He enjoyed making people laugh and sharing stories.

Irwin will be remembered for his humility, generosity, philanthropy, love of family, quick wit and sense of humor.

Funeral was on May 5 at Temple Shalom in Greenwich.
