Greenwich Skating Club’s girls team won the CGHL 12U Division I Title.

The girls dominated the tourney with no losses and narrowly won the semifinal game 3-2, with a hat trick by Raela Polanish. The Team ultimately beat the undefeated Mass Conn team 3-2 in the finals for the Championship. It was not an easy road to the win. The game was tied in the third period, with goals from Sasha Mollett and Charlie Caffray, and was down two players with a third, Ellie Hillenbrand, one of the Captains, playing injured and one-handed.

During the final minutes of the third period, Madeline Jones scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot and goalie Grace Kepler made an amazing game-winning save.  This was an incredible upset and victory – for the fourth-seeded team of the tournament to beat the top-seeded team.

Coaches Lloyd Polanish, Sarah Hughson and Nikki Friesen led this team through the season.
