Greenwich Arts Council is celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Art to the Avenue. The event is an opportunity for artists, stores and restaurants, and the community to participate in an exciting festival celebrating Greenwich’s vibrant business district and the arts. From May 5 to 31, Central Greenwich becomes a strolling gallery by exhibiting original paintings, photographs or sculpture in each participating establishment and its windows.
Opening Night is Thursday, May 5, 5:30 to 8pm, and almost every location participating in this year’s event will be hosting a special meet and greet that night for the artists and the public. In addition, the viewers will be entertained by musical groups all along the Avenue and new this year, music on the lawn by R&B and Soul Band “9 of Hearts” at 299 on the Avenue, home of the Greenwich Arts Council and the Senior Center. This year the Seniors are also participating, as their original works will be on display in the main floor of the building.
All the artwork is for sale, with 30% of every art sale benefiting the arts, music and dance education programs of the GAC, as well as their honored art programs for youth in schools and adults at the Greenwich Arts Council.
