Billy Joel is the headliner this year and will follow Old Crow Medicine Show, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Robert Randolph Band on the main stage. On the town stage, Winston Rider; Cover Story; Kings Highway; Drew Angus; Merlin; Henry Conlon; and Mathes, Kimberlin and Friends will all be performing.
Greenwich Hospital Delivers Diapers
Greenwich Hospital employees donated 3,240 diapers to Neighbor to Neighbor and the Carver Center. The Greenwich diaper drive was led by the hospital’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council. Throughout the month of March, employees at Yale New Haven Health – Bridgeport, Greenwich, Lawrence + Memorial, Westerly and Yale New Haven hospitals – donated 17,850 diapers to be distributed to organizations throughout the communities they serve.
Greenwich Hospital Celebrates Volunteers
Earlier this month, 65 Greenwich Hospital volunteers were celebrated on Thursday during a special luncheon to mark National Volunteer Week. Last year, Greenwich Hospital volunteers provided 13,230 hours of service, including 3,000 hours at the Yale New Haven Health community COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Brunswick School.
Ride a Bike Week
Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo has proclaimed May 1-7, 2022 as Ride-A-Bike-Week in Town, and is encouraging all Town residents and visitors to explore whether bicycling can be the alternative and active traffic and transportation option for them on one of these days or for most of this coming week.
Greenwich Historical Society’s Tavern Garden Market Returns
The Historical Society will stage its first Tavern Garden Market of the season at its Cos Cob campus, May 4 from 10am-2 pm. The Market will continue on alternating Wednesdays through November 2.

New Members of the Greenwich Police Department
Last week Richard Shaw, Jack Livingston, and Robert Pascale, the new members of the Greenwich Police Department were sworn in by First Selectman Fred Camillo. They started at the Police Academy in New Britain, CT on April 25th.
Greenwich Fire Department’s New Recruits Live Fire Training
Earlier this week, Greenwich’s newest Career Firefighter recruits took part in live fire operations training. Next month, these recruits will graduate and begin their careers.
Pollinator Pathway Mural
Earlier this week was the ribbon cutting of the Pollinator Pathway Mural by the bus stop opposite Greenwich High School. The mural was painted by Muralist Nelson Rivas.

Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive Returns
The National Association of Letter Carriers “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive is returning after a two year hiatus due to COVID-19 on Saturday, May 14. There will also be an online option for residents who will not be able to participate in person. The online food drive offers a wonderful balance to the physical food drive. Selectmen Vote on Naming Policy
Last Thursday Greenwich Board of Selectmen had a second read of a proposed naming rights policy for accepting gifts in exchange for naming rights on town owned facilities. The new policy will apply only to donations in the future. Selectwoman McGuigan voted against the policy, while First Selectman Camillo and Selectwoman Rabin voted in favor. The motion to approve the policy passed 2-1.
Greenwich Installs CT’s First Adaptive Traffic Signal System
The first adaptive traffic signal system in Connecticut has been implemented at five intersections on Arch Street. Members from the Greenwich Department of Public Works and First Selectman Fred Camillo held a ribbon cutting ceremony this past Tuesday to celebrate the new technology. Officials are hoping these lights will help improve the flow of traffic.
Greenwich High School Ranks Among Best in USA
U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) released its list of the best high schools in 2022. According to USWNR rankings, Greenwich High School is 9th out of 206 in Connecticut, and 408th out of 17,853 in the country. GHS was given an overall score of 97.71 out of 100.
Greenwich YMCA Staff Honored For Saving A Life
On Monday morning, the Greenwich YMCA and the American Red Cross Metro New York North Chapter honored two YMCA staff members in a small ceremony at the Y for saving a man’s life. On the morning of Nov. 5, 2021, Lifeguard Thomas Massam was alerted by a YMCA staff member that a 98-year-old man was having a medical emergency in the wellness center. Massam and Aquatics Director Lauren Chiappetta administered emergency oxygen before GEMS arrived, taking the man to the hospital. The man recovered and celebrated his 99th birthday that December. Stephanie Dunn Ashley, CEO of the American Red Cross Metro NY North Chapter, presented Massam and Chiappetta with award certificates and pins.
Board Of Selectmen Approve Formation of CMS Committee
Last week, the Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the formation of a building committee for the Central Middle School project. Committee members are nominated by the Board of Selectmen, and then approved by the RTM. There is a tight timeline to form the building committee in order for the RTM to vote at their June meeting.
Water Infrastructure Work Begins in Greenwich
Aquarion Water Company has begun projects replacing water mains in Greenwich. The projects began April 25 on Woodland Drive, Keofferam Road and Hawthorne Road. Work is expected to be completed by the end of July. Due to construction, residents should expect some traffic delays from 7am to 5pm
B&GCG to Lease Temporary Structure on Horseneck During Repairs
The temporary structure in the Horseneck Lane parking lot will serve as a temporary home for the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich’s administrative staff during renovations of the BGCG’s clubhouse across the street.
BET Passes Budget Plan
The 2022-23 fiscal year proposed budget beginning July 1, totals at $465,105,871. The budget was passed earlier this week by the BET, and is now going to the RTM for a final vote on May 9.
