Christ Church Greenwich’s previous Packathon on March 26 was so successful, they are planning another Packathon for Ukraine refugees on Friday, April 29 at 5:00 pm in the Parish Hall to pack 35,000 meals to be shipped to Poland to feed the people who have fled from their home country.
Everyone is welcome to volunteer.
At the last Packathon, 250 volunteers packed 36,000 meals for Ukrainian refugees on the border of Poland. A Packathon is a volunteer group food packing event. People came from the tri-state area to help with this effort. During a two-and-a-half-hour shift, teams of volunteers assembled four complete nutritious ingredients: a carbohydrate, dehydrated vegetables, vitamin powder and a bean protein. Volunteers weigh the packages, seal them and boxed them for distribution. This is a simple, organized, and cost-effective way to feed children and families who have fled their homes.
Additionally, a team of Christ church parishioners and clergy are working on helping families to resettle here in the United States. “The Ukraine situation is enormously significant,” the Rev. Marek Zabriskie said. “It is hard to watch the news and sit still. We pray for the people who are suffering, and we want to help in any way that we can.“
