William “Warren” Wilson, 62, passed away suddenly on March 31. He was born and raised in Greenwich, but if you asked him, he was from Glenville. That’s where he built lifelong friendships and where his parents owned The Beagle Inn restaurant for many years.
Though Warren seemed like the average family man, he was extraordinary in so many ways.
Many would say Warren was the toughest person they knew — but also the kindest. His whole life, he used his strength and selflessness to help others, never wanting anything in return. It was just in his Irish blood to live that way.
Professionally, Warren was a master contractor and the epitome of a hardworking man — developing many beautiful homes throughout the area. But by far, the thing he built that he was most proud of was his family.
At seventeen, Warren met the love of his life, Jayne. They were inseparable ever since, and laughed together no matter where they were or what they were doing. Their bond was more than just a marriage — it was a true love story and spiritual connection that will live on forever.
Warren was not only a devoted husband, he was a fiercely dedicated father and grandfather too. The love he had for his four children and four grandchildren had no bounds, and he would go above and beyond to make sure they were all safe and happy every single day.
As an avid sports fan, Warren loved watching his favorite teams, the Mets and 49ers, and any golf tournament. Drinks with Jayne and friends, especially Verne and Mike, at their go-to local spots were one of his favorite pastimes. He also was an excellent cook, frequently making meals with love for family, friends, and even strangers.
Some of Warren’s most cherished moments were family trips to the beach in Stone Harbor, NJ. He also loved weekend getaways to Mohegan Sun for country music concerts and to try his luck of the Irish at the tables.
A lighthearted approach to life was Warren’s trademark and the reason he had so many friends in so many places. His infectious smile, charming wit, and hilarious sense of humor left a lasting impression on anyone he met.
Warren was predeceased by his father, William, mother, Theresa, and brother, Scott. Left to honor his legacy are his wife, Jayne; four children, Erica, Brooke, Patrick (Jenny), Willie; and grandchildren, Brandon, Melody, Cameron, and Kendall.
To know Warren was to love him, and we are all better people for having had him in our lives. There was never anyone like him, and there never will be.
A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held on Friday, April 8 at 10am at St. Catherine of Siena Church in Riverside. Arrangements are private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his honor to The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich.
