Greenwich is a community that loves its non-profits, by nature, we’re a giving town. This extends not only from our local 501(c)3’s but to our places of worship, schools, and now to Ukraine. Here is what several different institutions in town are doing to donate to help Ukraine, and how you can join them in their efforts.
Christ Church Greenwich
Christ Church Greenwich is organizing an Emergency ‘Packathon’ to provide 36,000+ packages of nutritional meals for Ukrainian refugees on the border of Poland. A Packathon is a group food-packing event. During a two-and-a-half-hour shift, teams of volunteers assemble four complete nutritious ingredients into individual packages. The Packathon will take place Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m.
Christ Church is asking the community to donate whatever they can to help underwrite these expenses. Donations to underwrite supplies and food can be done online: christchurchgreenwich.org or you can send a check made out to Christ Church Greenwich, indicated as “Ukraine” Christ Church Greenwich 254 East Putnam Ave., Greenwich, CT 06830.
Chabad of Greenwich
On Sunday, March 27, Chabad of Greenwich will be having its bi-monthly Jewish Relief Agency volunteering event, where families come together to pack and deliver food boxes to those in need throughout our community. The event will take place at Chabad, 75 Mason St, at 11:45am. In addition to the regular items being distributed, children will have the opportunity to prepare packages of treats that will be sent to Ukrainian families that have arrived in the United States.
