Sole Sisters Book Drive to Benefit Greenwich After-School Programs

The Greenwich United Way Sole Sisters will host a book drive February 22 to March 11 to benefit Greenwich after-school programs at the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) and the BANC Department of Human Services After School Program. Donors are asked to bring new and gently used books specifically for kindergarten through eighth grade readers to the following locations: Athena Books in Old Greenwich, Cos Cob Library, Dogwood Books & Gifts at Christ Church, Perrot Library and the Greenwich United Way office.

The Greenwich United Way is committed to supporting the education, health, and self-sufficiency of town residents. It is proven that child literacy stimulates imagination and expands understanding of the world. Reading for pleasure can benefit a child’s education, social and cognitive development, wellbeing, and mental health. The books collected during the drive will directly help early readers in the Greenwich community.

“The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich and BANC are integral support systems for the families in Greenwich and are our partners in working to close the achievement gap among students,” said David Rabin, president and CEO of Greenwich United Way. “Since its founding in 2005, Sole Sisters has worked tirelessly to strengthen our community, bringing in hundreds of women every year to donate time, talent and capital and invest in Greenwich. The book drive is a simple and effective way to make a difference and involve as many residents as we can.”
