Greenwich Library Hosts a Special Comedy Night

The Friends of Greenwich Library invite you to a special evening of comedy on Thursday, February 10 at 7 p.m. Award-winning comedians Jane Condon, Julia Scotti and Kathe Farris promise to provide an evening full of laughter and good humor when they take the stage at the Library’s new Berkley Theater. This in-person event will also be livestreamed, but not recorded. Immediately following the comedy performance will be a brief and lively Q&A session with the comedians and audience members.

“We are delighted to welcome these three talented comedians to the Berkley Theater,” said Hilary Martin Lea, chair of the Friends of Greenwich Library.  “If laughter is really the best medicine, then these three are sure to cure whatever ails you.”

Belly laughs are guaranteed when Greenwich’s own Jane Condon takes the stage. The Associated Press has dubbed her “an upper crust Roseanne” and The New York Times said, “Condon had the audience cackling, guffawing and in hysterics as she sliced through marriage, husband, kids, politics and other topics.” She loves to tell stories about her adventures with her husband and two boys. Condon was named one of “10 Comedy Best Bets” in Back Stage. She has appeared on ABC’s The View and Lifetime’s Girls’ Night Out, FOX’s series finale of 24, Nickelodeon’s Nick Mom Night Out, as well as NBC’s Last Comic Standing and the Today Show. Condon has given commencement speeches at Wellesley College (her alma mater), the University of New Haven and Wilson College. Her hilarious first cartoon book, Chardonnay Moms, was co-authored with fellow Greenwich resident Bobbi Eggers. For more information, visit janecondon.com.

Kathe Farris is a Boston-based stay-at-home mom, stand-up comedian and snack cake enthusiast. She hit the comedy scene a little late in life with a different point of view and killer material. After becoming a Comic-in-Residence at The Comedy Studio and a finalist in the Boston Comedy Festival, she recently recorded her national debut with a Dry Bar Comedy Special. Her weekly show, Farris and Friends Comedy Hour, became The Boston Globe’s “Critics Choice.” She’s been able to pass on her expertise as one of the most sought-after comedy instructors in Boston. After four years running one of the most popular workshops in town with the Boston Comedy Chicks, she’s currently on staff at The Comedy Studio providing seasoned advice, constructive critiques, and the nuts and bolts of how to write and deliver jokes. Julia Scotti has been a very busy person. In addition to performing standup at venues all over the country, she currently stars in the critically acclaimed documentary “Julia Scotti: Funny that Way,” which will be highlighted as part of the Friends Friday Films series on Friday, February 4. Scotti continues to break down barriers in every facet of show business, proving that age not just a number, it’s an asset. She has starred in a short film entitled “Relatable Joy,” playing what else but a comedian! And she looks forward to bringing her acting talents to more projects soon. Also on tap is a Dry Bar Comedy Special, which was recorded earlier this year. In the meantime, you can see her on Showtime as one of the featured performers in “More Funny Women of a Certain Age.” Scotti is recording her new album this November for 800 LB Gorilla Records and her first album, Hello Boys, I’m Back!, is available for download wherever fine comedy is sold. And of course, Julia remains a fan favorite of America’s Got Talent audiences around the world. Her three appearances appear on YouTube with more than a million views on each. For your safety, all attendees will be required to wear a mask throughout the entire program and show proof of full vaccination (in the form of their CDC Vaccination Card or a photo or photocopy of the Card) or a negative PCR Test taken within 72 hours of the event. No one will be admitted without this information.
