Paws Crossed Animal Rescue is thrilled to have partnered with their great friends at the Greenburgh Library in their Tails and Tales Summer Reading Project 2021. This program offered games and challenges for all ages to engage the whole community in the splendor of reading! To make the Tails and Tales theme more meaningful, the Greenburgh Library will donate cans of food to Paws Crossed as Summer Reading Project participants complete reading objectives. With today being the final day, this program has already raised over 136 cans of food for the orphaned pets of Paws Crossed.
“We are obsessed with this partnership and it has been an incredible opportunity for all of our animal-loving Junior Volunteers out there”, said Julie Potter, Business and Development Director. “What a wonderful WIN-WIN situation! Encouraging kids to read, while teaching them a valuable lesson in animal care and the joy of giving back to their community”.
“Reading over the summer break is so important for school-age children but it can be hard to keep them motivated. Involving children in something they care about and can understand, like feeding sheltered animals has kept them engaged and eager to complete the Summer Reading Project” said Nicole Guenkel, Co-Head of Youth Services, Greenburgh Public Library. “We are grateful for this partnership that helped us create an opportunity for children to contribute to our community and look forward to future collaborations with Paws Crossed Animal Rescue.”
