Jan. 20, 1923 – July 8, 2021
Johanna Agnes Faughnan, 98 years young, known to everyone as Josie, was a lifelong resident of Greenwich and passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 8 with her daughters and son-in-law by her side. Luckily for Josie’s grandchildren, they also were able to spend some time with her during the day and say their goodbyes.
Mom was sick for short time so we would like to thank Constellation Hospice as well as all her caregivers especially Lisa Ryan, Aries, Chantal her aide who was so sweet to her and the staff who were so helpful to us in our time of need.
Josie was predeceased by her husband Patrick, her six sisters and two brothers. She is survived by her four children, Eileen Liberty (Jim Francia), Patricia Santora (Joe), Patrick Faughnan (Kerry), Kathleen DeFilippis (Joe). Josie had nine beloved grandchildren, Amy Hampe (Jim), Brian Ferenz (Alyssa), Joseph Santora (Dianna), Allyson Mitchell (Jay), Michelle Santora, Katherine Faughnan, P. Charles Faughnan, Laura DeFilippis and Kelly DeFilippis. In addition to eight loved great-grandchildren, Ben Hampe, Levi, Calvin and Winona Ferenz, Ryan and Lauren Santora, Joseph and Jason Mitchell.
Josie leaves behind her sister who was her “Irish Twin,” Elizabeth Stevens as well as many nieces and nephews who she lovingly called “Kiddo.”
Calling hours will be at Leo P. Gallagher’s Funeral Home, 31 Arch St, Greenwich from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 16. A Mass will be held on Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena, 4 Riverside Ave, Riverside.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the following organizations: Constellation Hospice, 240 Indian River Road, Orange, CT 06744 and The American Cancer Society.
