Obituary: Frederick Jasperson

Frederick Bon Jasperson, aged 94, passed away on June 27, 2021, at home in Greenwich, CT. Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, to Lt. Col. Frederick Kent Jasperson QC, DSO and Jean Dorothea Maclaren. He attended Ridley College and the University of Toronto where he received a degree in Agricultural Economics. His career began in Toronto with Dow Chemical, Canada. In 1963 he moved to Florida and became president of Everglades Chemical. In 1983 He moved to Washington, DC and started Audax Chemical. He earned several U.S., Canadian, and Australian patents.

His real life’s work was his passion for helping others which he exercised through various ministries. Through Christ Church Greenwich he worked as a Stephen Minister and a Lay Eucharistic Minister. He was a visitor and pastoral caregiver at Greenwich Hospital, and Nathaniel Witherell where he conducted services for twenty years.

Bon mentored incarcerated youth at the Connecticut Youth Prison and visited adults through a federal program called Prisoner Visitation and Support (PVS). At Faith Behind Bars and Beyond (FBBB) Bon participated in a forum where organizations shared information about the needs of incarcerated people and their families. Bon received the inaugural Elizabeth Bush Leadership Award for his work.

He is survived by his wife Rebecca Amiot Jasperson, and his daughter Terry Jasperson Lockhart, three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife Carolyn Carson in 1998, by his brother John Kent Jasperson in 2012, and by his grandson Andrew Jasperson Lockhart in 2016.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Greenwich, 254 East Putnam Avenue, Greenwich on Sept. 18 at 2.
