
The Greenwich Department of Human Services is currently accepting application for the State of CT Rent Rebate Program.
State law provides a program for renters who are elderly (65 years of age or older) or who are disabled and whose annual incomes do not exceed certain limits. Under this program, a check is directly remitted to an approved applicant by the State. The check represents a partial refund of rental and utility payments. Persons renting an apartment, cooperative housing, congregate living or even leasing a mobile home space may be eligible.
The rebate represents the previous rental year which is 2020, not the current year.
Rent Rebates can be up to $900.00 for married couples and $700.00 for unmarried applicants.
Maximum allowable income in 2020 to qualify:
Single person – $37,600 Married Couple – $45,800
Required Documents / Verifications:
Proof of all income from all sources received in 2020 – Social security benefits, pension, wages, dividends, interest and any other income. (Full 12 months must be provided)
Proof of total amount of rent paid in 2020 – statement from housing authority showing amount paid, cancelled checks or receipts for amount paid. (Full 12 months must be provided)
Proof of utilities paid in 2020 – payment history from utility company or cancelled checks/receipts for payments made.
