
Ready to start investing but don’t know where to start? Greenwich Library is offering a three-part webinar series Get Started with Investing beginning on June 9 at 1 p.m. Kristen Jacks, a financial educator and the author of Money in Your Twenties, will be the presenter. Join this virtual program to learn the basics of investing, how to assess value, and much more.
Beginning June 1, patrons will be able to reserve the Bloomberg Terminal online here. The Bloomberg Terminal is a powerful resource for business and financial professionals that brings together real-time breaking news and data on all markets. Patrons can the terminal in advance for one hour per day, the same day or next day.
Greenwich Library invites you to come and check out the redesigned Peterson Business wing when the Library officially reopens (details coming soon). While the footprint of the building remained the same, new meeting rooms and phone booths were added, making it a place where people from the community can come and work, find valuable business and career resources, or get help with their job search.
Job seekers and business owners are always invited to visit GreenwichLibrary.org for a wealth of resources, including access to financial databases, stock market research and links for unemployment assistance, and the Library’s Job and Career Accelerator database.

VIRTUAL – Get Started with Investing I: Intro to Most Popular Investment Vehicles
Wednesday, June 9, 1 – 2 p.m.
Do you want to feel more confident when it comes to investing? Do not allow unfamiliar terms like “mid-cap value fund” to intimidate you. The basics of investing are easy to grasp. This is the first part in a three-part series on investing that will boost your knowledge and confidence.
Part One introduces the most popular investment vehicles like stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. The webinar also addresses the advantages of tax-sheltered saving in a 401(k) or IRA.
The webinar will be led by Kristen Jacks, a financial educator and the author of Money in Your Twenties. Jacks studied financial planning at Boston University’s Center for Professional Education. She started her career at Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine and later worked at Mutual Funds magazine. Kristen is a graduate of Duke University.
VIRTUAL – Get Started with Investing II: How to Assess Value
Wednesday, June 16, 1 – 2 p.m.
This is Part Two in a three-part series on learning to invest that will boost your knowledge and confidence. In Part Two, Kristen Jacks will start with market capitalization and move on to P/E ratio, dividend yield, and book value. She will also discuss the difference between value and growth stocks.

Presenter Diane Winston is a change management and communications strategist with 30-plus years of corporate and consulting experience. In 2005, she established her consulting firm, Winston Strategic Partners, LLC, to support change initiatives impacting organizations, people, and cultures. Winston is a member of the US and NY Women’s Chambers of Commerce, Women in Public Policy, the Collaboration of Professional Women of Color, and the Black Business Alliance. She has a BA from NYU and an MBA from Chicago.

It is sometimes difficult to understand the financial options available that will enable you to start or grow your business. This workshop will provide information on how to assess your options and be prepared to engage potential lenders most effectively. Attendees will learn what financial information is needed to apply for a commercial loan, what type of loan is best for your needs, how a bank interprets financial information, and what bank looks for in a borrower’s personal and credit history.

Join us to learn how to use a blog/newsletter/social media to garner new clients and customers for your business. You’ll learn what to blog about to get people to read your content, how to develop an audience without selling, how to take your message to the masses to create income and how to do it easily. Presenter Holly Hurd is the founder of VentureMom.com, a blog, and platform devoted to sharing the stories of women who have their own businesses to inspire others to do the same. Hurd has interviewed hundreds of women on her blog, making her uniquely qualified to speak on blogging and the small business start-up. In her book, VentureMom: From Idea to Income in Just 12 Weeks, Hurd gives founders a step-by-step guide to creating their own income.
SCORE Webinar: Why Good isn’t Good Enough: Presenting Excellence
