The Everest Leadership Academy, a non-profit organization helping children in underserved communities and schools reach their full potential as leaders, announced today the winner of the Greenwich Community Leadership Award to L’escale Restaurant Bar in Greenwich, CT. The organization is recognizing business leadership within community’s that showed perseverance during the pandemic and have proven to be wonderful role models for the students within the academy.

Throughout the pandemic L’escale has not only found a way to stay open and keep its employees working, but they have also shown their ability to pivot when presented with obstacles. Good leadership is not necessarily all that difficult during the good times, but exemplary leadership is required during extremely difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic. L’escale, the management team and staff have achieved that status.

The Everest Leadership Academy has an ongoing relationship with the Town of Greenwich through their work with the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich. The partnership between these two exceptional organizations has helped many children achieve leadership success in school, at home and in their communities.

“It gives us great pleasure to recognize L’escale and bestow upon them our highest honor for leadership excellence,” said Ray Sozzi Sr., Founder & CEO of The Everest Leadership Academy. “This award is a testament to the commitment and ingenuity L’escale and its staff have shown throughout the past year, and the leadership skills it took to ensure their customers a five-star dining experience during the pandemic.”

“It is always an honor to get this kind of recognition by our peers and incredible organizations like The Everest Leadership Academy,” said David Fletcher, Director of Operations, L’escale. “This past year has been a very difficult one for all restaurant businesses and every member of the L’escale staff has worked tremendously hard to offer continued impeccable food and service, which our patrons have become accustomed to.”

In recognition of this award, Fred Camillo, Greenwich First Selectman will be in attendance to express his support for local Greenwich businesses and the exceptional work and commitment they have shown throughout the pandemic.

“In a year for the history books, many businesses stepped up to the unprecedented challenge of these modern times,” said Camillo. “L’escale was one of those businesses that not only survived the global pandemic, but provided residents and patrons with an opportunity to dine out in a safe manner when so many people were hesitant to do so. The beautiful waterside restaurant also kept employees busy at a time when bank accounts were depleted and cash flows dangerously low. We salute L’escale for standout leadership in one of the most difficult and unpredictable times in world history.”

About The Everest Leadership Academy
The Everest Leadership Academy is all about your pursuit of excellence and your development as a leader – in school, at home, in your community, and in your future careers. For those who may not start out with all the advantages, The Everest Leadership Academy intends to make a difference. The Academy proposition is that the early formative years are most critical as there will be defining moments (inflections points) which will define who we are later on in life. At the Academy we help young people scale new heights and enjoy the climb by embracing and recognizing those defining moments. We embrace academic education taught in the classroom (the hard IQ skills) and focus on developing the social character (the soft EQ leadership skills) that prepares people to succeed. We fully understand that knowledge by itself is not enough – it’s the wise use of knowledge that matters.

As a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, all contributions to the Academy are tax deductible as provided by law.
