At a news conference announcing Governor Lamont’s new Health System Response Team, Marna Borgstrom, CEO Yale New Haven Health confirmed that Greenwich Hospital has been on the front line dealing with the COVID-19 outbreak.

So far, nine physicians have tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Borgstrom, “Across the health system I know that at Greenwich Hospital, which has been on the front line, they’ve had about nine of their physicians test positive including a number of emergency room physicians.”

Bergstrom also said that Greenwich Hospital has, “a number of nurses out.”

Amid concerns for healthcare workers themselves, there is a larger concern. Who will care for the sick, including healthcare workers, if too many become ill. Bergstrom said, “we are working really hard to protect them.”
