Greenwich Police Investigating Fatal Car Crash in Cos Cob

The Greenwich Police Department Traffic Division is investigating a fatal single motor vehicle accident which occurred Thursday night on the Post Road at its intersection with Cross Lane in Cos Cob.

According to police, at around 10:18 p.m., a vehicle had been traveling east when it left the roadway to the right and impacted a tree and utility wires before it ended up colliding with a commercial building located at 121 Post Road.

The sole occupant and operator of the vehicle sustained significant injuries, and after being extricated from his vehicle, was transported to Stamford Hospital where he was declared deceased. Notification of next of kin is pending.

The building at 121 Post Road (listed as home to Chocoylatte Gourmet), which had been unoccupied at the time of the crash, has been examined and declared unsafe by Town of Greenwich Building Inspectors.
