Arora, Moss Debate Debates

Last week, the League of Women Voters issued a press release indicating that it would not sponsor a debate between the republican and democrat candidates for the election to the 151st district seat in the state legislature.

In that release, the League  of Women Voters slammed the republican candidate, Harry Arora, for requesting that the debate moderator be either a registered Independent/Unaffiliated voter or that the political affiliation of the moderator be made transparent.

The League issued a press release attacking the republican as partisan and defending their 100 year non-partisan history. Earlier this week the League issued a second statement chastising the Arora campaign again and pointing out that democrat, Cheryl Moss, had agreed to the League’s debate.

At the same time, the Arora campaign agreed to a candidate forum with the Greenwich local press, but the Moss campaign declined, saying that the press was not unbiased and only the League of Women Voters was qualified.

It is likely that there will be no local debates before the Jan. 21 election.

Both candidates did participate previously in a forum hosted by Channel 12, which can be viewed on the Channel 12 website, at
