Mark your calendar for the third annual “Make Waves Day” on Thursday, June 20, with area restaurants and retailers. This annual event is a community fundraising initiative with Swim Across America Fairfield County to help raise funds for groundbreaking cancer gene therapy research.
Participating retailers and restaurants will contribute a portion of their sales from June 20 to Swim Across America Fairfield County. Many donate up to 10-to-20 percent, but each participant is free to decide which portion of the day’s sales are donated and can specify hours of the promotion. The funds raised go to directly to Swim Across America Fairfield County and its local beneficiary, Stamford-based Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy (ACGT), the nation’s only nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to funding cancer gene therapy research.
