‘For a Brighter Venezuela’ Fundraiser at the YMCA
On Saturday, May 18 at 7 p.m., the YMCA of Greenwich will be the site of an evening of Venezuelan art, musical performances, and food to help raise funds for humanitarian relief in Venezuela.
Venezuela is experiencing a severe humanitarian crisis that is hard to overestimate or even for us to grasp. Described as “worse than a war zone,” food and medicine shortages are severe. Families go through garbage to look for food. Basic services like water and electricity are intermittent and unpredictable.
Despite the crisis, Venezuela boasts exceptional resources, both human and natural. Through this event the organizers aim to showcase its heritage, while raising funds to assist with humanitarian relief. They are featuring a wonderful musical and artistic program that includes performances by Venezuelan musicians, and artwork for sale by local Venezuelan artists. Featuring wine and Venezuelan food.
Entrance tickets are $20; raffle tickets are $10. Donations will help Venezuelans get through this crisis.
All funds will go to three registered 501(c)3 non-profits run by Venezuelans living in the US: Cuatro Por Venezuela, I Love Venezuela Foundation and Asoprograr.
