The League of Women Voters invites the public to its Community Speaker Series: “Climate Risk and Climate Action” – A Discussion with Professor Peter De Menocal, Wednesday, April 24, at Greenwich Library’s Cole Auditorium. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.; Speaker Presentation: 7 to 8:30 p.m.

The event is free, but RSVP is requested at: EventsLWVG@gmail.com

De Menocal will discuss his research and how climate change impacts life’s essentials — our communities, access to food, water, shelter and energy. He is the founding Director of the Center for Climate and Life at Columbia University, with a research team of over 120 Ph.D scientists leading climate and life system research.

A marine geologist and paleoclimate scientist at Columbia’s Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, he studies ocean sediments to understand how and why past oceans and climates have changed, and the impact on human evolution and culture.
