Historical Society to Host Interior Designer Steven Gambrel
Celebrated interior designer and connoisseur of historical styles, Steven Gambrel will be a guest lecturer at a special cocktail reception at the Greenwich Historical Society on Thursday, April 11, to be followed by a signing of his recently published cloth-bound tome: Perspectives.
He will give insights into his unique sensibility with recent projects that are featured in Perspectives, including his 19th-century townhouse in New York City’s West Village, a Bridgehampton beach house, a rustic, refined Zurich estate, the luxurious Astor Suite in Manhattan’s Plaza Hotel and a charming sea captain’s house in Sag Harbor.
Gambrel’s designs feature compelling reinterpretations of the past coupled with a sense of place. His work is featured consistently in the world’s leading design publications. His firm, S.R. Gambrel, Inc., specializes in residential and commercial commissions, as well as customer product and furnishings. He draws inspiration from vernacular architectural details of the region of each commission and subscribes to the importance of properly proportioned structures and details, partnered always with a curated collection of vintage, antique and custom furniture that he designs.
The event takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sag Harbor Tickets at $200 include cocktails, lecture, signed book; West Village Tickets at $400 include cocktails, lecture, signed book and a Premiere Family Membership to Greenwich Historical Society.
