Jewish Family Services of Greenwich (JFS) announced that Rachel Levine Kornfeld, LCSW, will join the agency as new Executive Director, beginning Feb. 4. Kornfeld is looking forward to bringing her years of non-profit and clinical experiences to support people needing quality behavioral health and wellbeing support services in the Greenwich area.
Kornfeld began her career as a social worker in the NYC foster care system, and has been providing mental health and education services in New York City for 17 years. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, a Masters Degree in clinical social work from Columbia University, and a master’s degree in school building leadership from Mercy College.
In 2006, Kornfeld was recruited to help start The New LIFE School, part of Lutheran Social Services of New York. There she has worked as Director of Clinical Services, Principal, and for the last seven years as Executive Director for Education Services. Kornfeld has also been in private practice as a psychotherapist in Stamford where she lives with her family. Her years of training and variety of experiences in the fields of behavioral health and education have prepared her well to take on the leadership of Jewish Family Services where the agency provides an array of individual and group therapeutic and support services.
As Kornfeld recently said, “I am excited to help JFS grow as we increase counseling, support services and outreach in the community. We will be looking at and tapping into unfulfilled service needs, and welcome the input of the community.” Her mission with JFS aligns with her professional goal of improving the lives of individuals and families.
