The Angel Choir

The Retired Men’s Association of Greenwich (RMA) will present Choral performance by The Angel Choir, Wednesday, Dec. 26 at 11 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church, 1 West Putnam Ave.

The Angel Choir is a singing group dedicated to cancer patients, survivors, and their families and friends. They use music to experience joy, for restorative healing, and as a means of reviving the spirit. Under the direction of its founder and director Pamela Kuhn, the choir will perform selections from their repertoire, including holiday songs and Christmas carols. The public is invited and all are encouraged to join in the singing.

The central theme for the group is “Encouragement!” The act of singing is a visceral experience combining the power of the voice, mind, body, and spirit. Working with cancer patients through music is a humbling experience. It provides an opportunity for members of the choir to “give back” by supporting everyone who comes to sing while remembering the people we have lost.

Kuhn is a professional singer and voice teacher. After earning her master’s degree at the University of Southern California, she performed in London for twenty years. She has sung in opera houses and recital halls in Vienna, London, Venice, Paris, and cities across America. She is a coach to many professional singers, who perform in a variety of musical genres from opera to rock and roll. She is also a choral director, conducting the MasterSingers of Greenwich and the Silvertones at the Greenwich Senior Center. On her local radio program, “Center Stage with Pamela Kuhn” on WGCH Tuesday mornings at 9 a.m., she interviews a variety of individuals on aspects of music and the arts.
