It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of Siena Hermania de Roos Ossorio. A longtime resident of Greenwich, CT before moving to Boulder, Colo. with her husband, Frederic Eugene Ossorio. She died peacefully in her home the morning of Dec. 3, 2018.
She was born July 29, 1924 in Kinderdijk, The Netherlands. Her mother, Grethe Wilhelmina Slieker de Roos, father, Hermanus de Roos, brother, John George, and sister, Hermanda de Roos O’Connor survived the Second World War and immigrated to the United States in September, 1947. She met her husband in May 1950. After a brief but beautiful courtship, they married that June. Her husband, Eric, died in May 2005.
After her husband and family, music perhaps was her greatest passion. She was a gifted pianist who often entertained friends and family. She gave that love of music to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children: Wilhelmina Peters of Walpole, N.H.; Alexandra Marijke Janeway of Middlebury, Vt.; Caroline Ossorio of Boulder, Colo.; Frederic Ossorio of Big Sky, MT; Pia Ossorio of Boulder, Colo.; and Alfonso Ossorio of Lafayette, Colo., as well as fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Boulder, Colo. the spring of 2019.
