Knapp Tavern Candlelight Open House

putnam-cottage-fi-2

Turn back the clock to the American Revolution, and join the fun of a Colonial Holiday celebration at Greenwich’s historic Knapp Tavern (at Putnam Cottage). All are welcome to a Candlelight Open House on Sunday, Dec. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Cover your ears when Connecticut’s Fifth Regiment fires a deafening volley of muskets and cannon. Sing along to the tune of the fiddler as he plays a favorite of General George Washington (a patron of Knapp Tavern). Children will love to join the craft-makers in the “new kitchen” (c. 1700’s). And, what would the holidays be without hot cider and delicious gingerbread? Docents will be conducting tours throughout the evening.

Knapp Tavern Museum at Putnam Cottage is located at 243 East Putnam Ave. Admission is $5 per person and $20 per family, which assists in the preservation of the Tavern.

This annual event is sponsored by the Putnam Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
