

Joseph S. Amico, of Greenwich, passed away on Nov. 24, 2018. Born Nov. 13, 1928 he was the son of the late Rose Stancampiano Amico and Salvatore Amico and grew up on Davis Avenue in Greenwich.
Joe graduated from Greenwich High School in 1948. Following High School graduation, Joe was enlisted in the U.S. National Guard and Army. He was stationed at Camp Pickett, Virginia and served in the 43rd Infantry Division/192nd Battery “B.” He achieved the distinguished rank of Sergeant and was honorably discharged Oct. 1, 1951. After the service, Joe became a barber and worked in Stamford and Greenwich. Later Joe became an employee for The Town of Greenwich until his retirement. Joe was a resident of Greenwich for 40 years and retired to Norwalk, CT. Most recently, Joe resided at The Mews, on ½ Bolling Place in Greenwich.
He is survived by his three children, Rosemary Amico, Kathryn Amico and John (Marta) Amico, and his two grandchildren, Joseph (Jessica) Blechner, John H. Amico, and one great-grandson, Bo Bennett Blechner. A visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 30 from 4 to 8 p.m., at the Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Dec. 1 at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Church. The burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich immediately following the funeral.
