First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich (FPCG) will host its 21st Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for Greenwich senior citizens this Thursday, Nov. 22 at 12 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall. This festive and free meal is for seniors in the Greenwich Community who would otherwise be alone on Thanksgiving.

This is a record-breaking year for guest turn out: FPCG will provide more than 200 home-cooked turkey meals and all the trimmings to Greenwich residents from Agnes Morley, Quarry Knoll, Greenwich Senior Center, Jewish Family Services, River House, McKinney Terrace and the Dept. of Social Services. Transportation is provided for the one hundred guests expected to break bread together in person while those homebound will enjoy a warm, delivered meal.

This community tradition is supported by more than 130 congregation members, First Presbyterian Nursery School families, and friends of the community who spend a portion of their Thanksgiving holiday serving and sharing in a day marked by gratitude and fellowship. Volunteer responsibilities range from cooking, buying ingredients, decorating, set up/clean up, providing transportation and entertainment, to administrative responsibilities and coordination with various senior organizations.

“The Thanksgiving Dinner is more than a meal—it is one of many ways our church seeks to serve our community in faith, and especially at this time of year—with gratitude,” says The Reverend Sean Miller, FPCG’s Senior Minister. “We hope that with every guest who attends—and with every meal that is delivered—our neighbors enjoy a bit of warmth and love from their friends at First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich.”

First Presbyterian Church is located at 1 West Putnam Ave.
