Letter: We Need to Return Michael Bocchino
To the Editor:
Fortunately for the Town of Greenwich, Representative Michael Bocchino, of the 150th District, has chosen to run for a third term. He is a native of Greenwich wanting to ensure the best possible future for all town residents.
Presently he serves on the Energy and Technology Committee, Housing Committee, and is the Ranking member of the Labor & Public Employee Committee. Representative Bocchino is fully cognizant of the direction and decisions Connecticut needs to follow in order to develop a strong, stable economy. He believes reducing the number of regulations on businesses will lead us to a more competitive place. This will encourage new companies to move here as well as allowing for growth of the current industries found in our state. This pattern will increase our revenue base ultimately leading to a reduction of our state income taxes.
In addition, Mr. Bocchino has worked diligently on statewide pension reform. A major change in current practices will lead to state reductions in our expenses and again ultimately lower our in-come tax responsibilities. This will be accomplished by working in conjunction with the unions rather than in opposition.
At the same time, he is serving on the Housing Committee. It is important to note he was instrumental in passing legislation that allows municipalities the ability to fight predatory developers from the overdevelopment of our communities. Representative Bocchino’s previous work in town as NLPTA president, Jr. League Advisory, Greenwich Park and Pool committee as well as the Greenwich Athletic Foundation clearly establishes his social responsibility towards those in need.
Within the 150th District, there are two large housing projects requiring sensitivity to particular needs of this segment of our town residents. Mike has developed and continues to maintain a strong working relationship with The Greenwich Housing Authority working for all his constituents’ best interests.
Representative Michael Bocchino brings experience, stamina, dedication – new ideas mixed with successful past practices to the job! He has demonstrated his successful abilities in Hartford – Most remarkable of all his achievements is gaining the state funding for New Lebanon School. Accordingly we need to return him to the House of Representatives this November!
