
Mary Rose Harrington, 54, of Morristown, N.J., passed away surrounded by her loving family in Old Greenwich on Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, following a seven-year struggle with ovarian cancer. Born in Garwood, N.J., on May 23, 1964, she was the daughter of John and Rose Harrington of Old Greenwich.
After her graduation from Greenwich High School in 1982, Mary attended Tufts University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. She worked for many years at Verizon in New York and New Jersey. Always interested in the arts, Mary was a talented artist herself. She was well read and enjoyed learning about her Irish heritage. While in Boston she played bass in a band and was keen on organic food well before it became popular. Mary will be remembered as a woman with many interests, passions and artistic accomplishments.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother John Harrington and his wife Jennifer Harrington of Bolton, CT; her sister Catherine Harrington of New York City; and her nieces Thalia and Shannon Harrington.
A memorial service was held Sept. 7. A private burial service will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery,. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance, PO Box 32141, New York, NY 10087-2141 – ocrfa.org.
