The Nathaniel Witherell announced the appointment of Edward Omondi to serve as its Director of Nursing. He will oversee a team of 200+ nursing managers, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants at the Witherell’s skilled nursing and short-term rehabilitation facility.

Prior to joining the Witherell, Omondi was Program Manager-Medication Manager for Pro-Health Physicians in Farmington where he managed a nursing team that maintained refills, renewals, and prior authorizations for 90+ practices statewide. In that role, Omondi was able to reduce potential medication errors by 46% across those practices.

“Ed brings diverse experience in patient care and safety, and in establishing procedures that will enhance productivity and efficiency to the Witherell,” says Allen Brown, Executive Director of The Nathaniel Witherell. “He’s a strong leader and effective manager and will continue to support the level of nursing excellence that the Witherell is well known for.”

A former Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps, Omondi served for six years overseeing 200+ medical doctors, pharmacists, nurses, dentists, radiology technicians and combat medics. During his military career, he was selected to serve as Bravo Company Commander and Hurricane Sandy Resource Commander.

Omondi began his career as an RN at Yale New Haven Hospital and was a shift supervisor across medical oncology and four Intensive Care Units. He also held managerial positions with Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven serving as Manager-Clinical Operations, and as Clinical Care Coordinator. Omondi was also a Patient Service Manager in the medical and hematology/oncology unit of Yale New Haven Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven.
